Rayong. BMW Group Thailand is poised to achieve another historic milestone with the establishment of
BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand, a local manufacturing plant for BMW Motorrad parts in Rayong, Thailand, representing the fourth company under BMW Group Thailand. Starting from September 2023, the plant will supply key motorcycle components, including cylinder heads, crankcases, engines, rear axles, wheels, frames, and swing arms, for the assembly of BMW Motorrad vehicles at BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand’s Rayong Plant. The official opening of BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand is scheduled for 8th September 2023.

Mr. Mr. Knut Boelcker, Managing Director of BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand, said, “BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand marks not only a milestone for BMW Group and BMW Group Thailand, but also an extension of our commitment to Thailand. This investment in BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand reaffirms our dedication to drive economic growth in the country and solidifies our position as a key player in the ASEAN region.”

Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General, Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), added, “On behalf of Thailand Board of Investment, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the new achievement of BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand. The investment expansion with BMW’s state-of-the-art manufacturing technology reinforces the trust it has placed in Thailand, regarding the country’s conducive business environment, strong infrastructure, skilled automotive labor, and strategic location in the ASEAN region. In addition, your dedication to innovative creation, supply chain development, and sustainability enablement has played a pivotal role in reinforcing Thailand’s position as the regional automotive leader.”

BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand will supply important motorcycle components to support the assembly of motorcycles at BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand in Rayong. This strategic investment of 2.35 billion baht in the new manufacturing plant underscores Thailand’s significance as a key strategic location for BMW Group. The decision to establish this major manufacturing facility was also influenced by the Thai Government’s economic assistance and ongoing BOI support, emphasising BMW Group’s commitment towards expanding its footprint in the country. As a result, BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand will make significant contributions to the country’s economic development, employment opportunities, knowledge transfer, and skills training.

Backed by an investment of 2.35-billion baht, the manufacturing plant locates in the vicinity of BMW Group Manufacturing Plant Thailand in Rayong, covering an area of approximately 11,000 square meters. With a projected production capacity of up to 80,000 components/parts per year, the plant is expected to create over 160 job opportunities during the ramp-up phase.

The grand opening ceremony of BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand marks a historic moment for the BMW Group as it will become the first component plant for BMW Motorrad outside of Germany. The plant’s implementation of complex and high-standard technologies ensures the production of top-quality motorcycle parts/components, reinforcing BMW Motorrad’s commitment towards extending its future model portfolio and investment in the ASEAN region.

Overall, the establishment of BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand strengthens BMW Group’s commitment to Thailand, exemplifying the company’s dedication in driving the industrial sector in the country. The collaboration with BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand in Rayong allows both companies to optimise operational efficiencies and streamline logistical processes, further enhancing BMW Group’s overall production network and shaping its future strategies. The expansion also reflects BMW Group’s long-term vision to deepen its presence in Thailand as a vital strategic market.
