BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand, represented by Mr. Erik Ruge, Managing Director, and Mr. Knut Boelcker, Managing Director of BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), represented by Prof. Dr.Suchart Siengchin, Vice President for Research and Information Technology Development. This collaboration aims to elevate the educational standards, research capabilities, and future workforce development in Thailand, benefiting students enrolled in vocational education programmes, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Rayong. BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand has recently entered a Memorandum of Understanding with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), to enhance education, research, recruitment, staff exchange, and other joint activities for KMUTNB students in vocational, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programmes. This MoU will offer Thai students internship opportunities, knowledge sharing by BMW experts, research collaboration, visits to the Rayong plant, as well as reskilling and upskilling initiatives to prepare them for the future workforce in the automobile industry. The partnership seeks to support and empower Thai students to develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their careers.

Mr. Erik Ruge, Managing Director of BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand, stated, “At BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand, we recognise the importance of nurturing a new generation of skilled workforce for the automobile industry in Thailand. As the country progresses towards becoming an EV manufacturing hub, there is an increasing demand for highly trained technicians. Our partnership with KMUTNB will not only enhance the skills of Thai students but also strengthen the industry and establish a viable EV ecosystem for the future. As a leader in the premium automobile segment, we are dedicated to supporting local talent through various collaborative projects, including internships, research support, and guest lectures from BMW experts. We believe that investing in the education and development of Thai students will contribute to the industry’s growth and help shape the future of mobility in Thailand.”

Mr. Knut Boelcker, Managing Director of BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand, commented, “BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand plays a crucial role in BMW Group Thailand, and we share a common goal of fostering a new generation of skilled workforce for Thailand, to support the future of Thailand’s automobile industry. This cooperation between BMW and King Mongkut’s University will be beneficial for both institutions, as it will allow us to collaborate on research projects, share knowledge and expertise, and promote academic and cultural exchange. This engagement is aimed at enhancing education in Thailand and is an extension of our commitment to grow together with Thailand, especially at a time when the Thai automotive industry is growing further in the 4- and 2-wheeler segment with cutting-edge technologies.”

Under this MoU, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) will collaborate with BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand and BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand to support students in various areas including education, research, recruitment, staff exchange, and joint activities. The partnership, spanning 3 years, will offer KMUTNB students internship opportunities ranging from 3 to 12 months, thesis work assistance at company facilities, and site visits of the Rayong plant. Both BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand and BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand will also provide guest lectures and speeches to KMUTNB students and collaborate on reskilling and upskilling initiatives, which will offer opportunities for higher education to BMW Group Thailand personnel. Additionally, this collaboration will promote a Talent Mobility Programme between BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand, BMW Parts Manufacturing Thailand and KMUTNB to enhance research capabilities within the industry at BMW.

BMW Group Thailand is committed to supporting learning opportunities for Thai students through both theoretical and practical training. This new partnership is dedicated to advancing education in Thailand with skills and expertise from BMW Group, marking a significant milestone in reskilling and upskilling the future workforce in Thailand to strengthen the overall automobile manufacturing industry in the country.
