Bangna to support skill development for service professionals in Thailand’s automotive industry.
Bangkok. Bangkok. BMW Group Thailand is fostering the future of Thailand’s automotive workforce, equipping technicians with the skills needed for the electric vehicle transition. The company recently facilitated a visit for faculty from Chitralada Technological Institute’s Faculty of Industrial Technology to the BMW German Auto Bangna service center. The visit provided hands-on learning experiences in electric vehicle maintenance and repair, adhering to BMW’s safety standards. This initiative focuses on upskilling technicians specializing in combustion engines to prepare them for the increasing demand for EV expertise. Furthermore, BMW Group Thailand proudly showcased the award-winning projects of student winners from the CHOICEISYOURS 2024 program at the recent Chaipattana Fair in Nakhon Nayok province.
Mr. Rene Gerhard, President and CEO of BMW Group Thailand stated, “BMW is committed to driving innovation and pushing forward the potential of the new generation of youth who will become the future of society. Therefore, we have organized various projects to promote education and skills of the new generation in many areas, such as the BMW Service Apprentice and Dual Excellence projects to train knowledge and develop skills in technical fields for vocational students at the BMW Group Thailand training center. Meanwhile, the CHOICEISYOURS project aims to promote creativity in the new generation with the concept of a circular economy: Rethink, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. We also have a cooperation with UNICEF to prepare science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills (STEM education) for children and youth.”

The collaboration between BMW Group Thailand and Faculty of Industrial Technology, Chitralada Technology Institute aims to cultivate specialized skills for automotive industry workforce. This encompasses expertise in internal combustion engine (ICE) technology, fully electric vehicles, and high-voltage battery systems, bridging the gap between traditional combustion engine repair and the evolving field of electric vehicle maintenance.
BMW Group Thailand also showcased the work of “The Riry Goods” team, comprised of Ms. Nichapat Suntornlimsiri and Ms. Nirada Yuttithamwong, fourth-year students from the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University. As one of the winning teams from the CHOICEISYOURS 2024 competition -which fosters creativity in young people based on the circular economy principles of Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Their project utilizes recycled plastic from Central Group and banana peels sourced from the Chaipattana Foundation, transforming these materials into usable, eco-friendly products. Another winning team, Midnight Muffin, comprised of Ms. Aroonrat Pornpakakul, Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, and Ms. Panatchakorn Tirachuli, Faculty of Engineering, both in their 2nd year at Chulalongkorn University, jointly presenting their work of adapting used cardboard boxes from BMW parts warehouse into boxes for pet corpses at the “Chaipattana Fair” at Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam, Nakhon Nayok Province.
